We are part of a nationwide program supported by the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK). A collaborative of multidisciplinary investigators, the DERC facilitates research by providing infrastructure and expertise focused on curing diabetes.

Why are DERCs Important?
The DERC provides a nexus of services, support, and community to investigators focusing on diabetes-related research that will

* Enhance existing programs
* Develop new programs.
* Develop a new generation of young investigators.
* Encourage established investigators to focus on diabetes-related problems.
* Provide efficient cutting-edge core facilities to maximize the performance of time-consuming and/or costly techniques*.
* Promote the exchange of information and ideas among basic and clinical research investigators.
