<p class="MsoNormal"><em><span><font size="2">Kristi Silver, M.D. is involved in both basic and clinical research programs related to the role of pancreatic beta cells in the development of diabetes mellitus. Her research projects include screening candidate genes to identify those important for insulin secretion and susceptibility to type 2 diabetes, identifying genes contributing to beta cell abnormalities in rodent models of insulin deficiency such as the GK rat, and determining the effects of gene variants on insulin secretion in subjects with and without diabetes. </font></span></em></p>
