Dr. Richard Ostlund is a professor of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipid Research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Ostlund is an acknowledged leader in the field of human cholesterol measurement specializing in general endocrinology, lipid metabolism, diabetes, thyroid disease and nutrition.
Regulation of Intestinal Cholesterol Absorption
The major goal of this research is to determine why cholesterol absorption differs between subjects and to relate differences to physiological mechanisms. The work is done with novel deuterated cholesterol tracers and mass spectrometry methods developed by our laboratory.
